Yarn Bases

Autumn Sport

This blend of non-superwash Shaniko wool, flax, and mulberry silk is an absolute dream to work with. The silk and flax lend a wonderful drape to the yarn and a beautiful depth of color. There are approximately 350 yards in each 100g skein.

Summer Bouclé

Made from 100% US-grown cotton, this base gives you softness without sacrificing strength. The texture is just enough to make simple stitches interesting, but not so much that it overpowers more complex designs. You’ll get around 440 yards in each 100g skein.

Shaniko Wool

Shaniko Wool Company is a collection of family owned ranches in the Western United States. These farms adhere to strict environmental standards, producing certified regenerative wool that is 100% traceable.

Sources, please!

Locally Grown and Spun

My yarn bases are purchased from Meridian Mill House, located in Gastonia, North Carolina. Their commitment to high quality US-grown and US-spun fibers and careful sourcing made them an obvious choice.

Natural Dyes

MAIWA has been an invaluable source of not only materials, but information and education. I also source from Botanical Colors, Shepherd Textiles, and earthues. I recommend all of these companies to anyone interested in natural dyeing!
